LBHS Drama is holding auditions for their spring play, The Diary of Anne Frank, which will go up in May. Open auditions will take place on Monday March 26 from 6-9pm in the Greene Room and Tuesday, March 27 in the Dance Studio.

Six teams, of 4 to 7 students each, representing Laguna Beach High School, Thurston Middle School, and Top of the World Elementary from Laguna Beach Unified School District have qualified to move on to the Destination Imagination (DI) state competition on April 7 in Clovis. Teams will compete in various categories.

Laguna Beach High School is among seven Orange County schools recognized by the California Courts system for its efforts to engage students in civic learning. An Award of Merit was presented to LBHS for its civic learning practices in Advanced Placement (AP) European History and its Model United Nations (MUN) program.

Irene White, director of special education for the Laguna Beach Unified School District, was named 2018 Special Education Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators Region 17. ACSA Region 17 will recognize all award recipients at the Orange County Administrators of the Year Banquet on May 7 in Irvine.

On December 12, the Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education took action to approve the Positive Certification of the 2017-2018 First Interim Financial Report and authorized its filing with the County Superintendent of Schools. The report highlights various positive adjustments to the adopted budget for the year.

On October 6, the Orange County Substance Abuse Prevention Network (OCSAPN) presented Mindy Hawkins, a Laguna Beach High School teacher, with the 2017 Linda Kearns Community Service Award at its annual conference in Anaheim. Hawkins is a special education teacher who has served as a PAL advisor for six years.
