Laguna Beach High School government and economics teacher, Mark Alvarez, has been honored with the University of Chicago's Outstanding Educator Award. The Office of College Admissions grants the award to teachers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the education and personal development of their students.

LBHS Drama is offering $5 tickets for the Thurs., 11/2 performance of Night of the Living Dead. This pricing is available for the Thursday performance ONLY. Regularly priced tickets are available for the Fri. & Sat. 7pm performances and the Sunday 2:30pm matinee.

Throughout the entire month of October, El Morro Elementary will celebrate disabilities in an effort to educate the school community about the value of a diverse and inclusive campus that supports all students regardless of individual differences. Events include a respectability assembly and a day of unity on National Anti-Bullying Day.

On October 6, the Orange County Substance Abuse Prevention Network (OCSAPN) presented Mindy Hawkins, a Laguna Beach High School teacher, with the 2017 Linda Kearns Community Service Award at its annual conference in Anaheim. Hawkins is a special education teacher who has served as a PAL advisor for six years.

The Early Developmental Index (EDI) Task Force will present the first parent education training for the school year, "Gut Brain Connection - How Food Impacts Behavior and Learning." This event will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Anneliese School.

LBUSD ranked second in Orange County for overall percentage of students who met or exceeded state standards on the 2017 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), the results of which were released today by the California Department of Education (CDE).

Laguna Beach High School students Charlotte Hoffs, Andrew Keyser, Joseph Ravenna, and Ben Sharp have been named Semifinalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program These talented seniors will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million next spring.
