Great News!!!

We are honored to share Thurston's recent recognitions:
1.  In January, Thurston was designated as a California "Schools to Watch - Taking Center Stage" model middle school.

2.  In February, the OC Register identified Thurston Middle School as the #1 middle school in Orange County

3.  In April, Thurston was re-designated as a California Distinguished School.
 
We are so proud of our students, staff, and community - all make Thurston an amazing place to be!

Weekly Update

  • Hello Thurston Families,

     

    We are busy preparing for Open House next Thursday, May 30th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.  Staff and students are very excited to showcase projects they have been working on all year!  It is our expectation that students remain with their parents and provide them with a personal tour of their classrooms.  Don’t forget the Wave Rider Café will be open for business with delicious sandwiches and salads for sale!  Our fabulous jazz band will be grooving from 5:00 – 5:30 pm near the new Wave Rider Café.  For your convenience we are providing a Shuttle Service that will run from 5:00 pm – 7:15 pm with pick up at the District Office parking lot.  We look forward to seeing you next Thursday, May 30th.

     

    Please take a moment to make sure your student’s contact information, including phone numbers, e-mail addresses and emergency contacts are current in Thurston’s database.  You can access the information we currently have on file by logging on to your AERIES account.  Click on:  “Student Info”, then “Contacts”.

    If there are changes, please e-mail them to spearlman@lbusd.org, or call the Thurston office at 949-497-7785.

    Next week from May 28th-May 30th the PALs will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Laguna Beach Food Pantry. Summer is typically a difficult time for local food banks and PALs wanted to call upon the Thurston community to help out! Please consider bringing a food item or two with you to Open House on May 30th.  There will be a donation site set up at the front of the school on that evening. If you are unable to attend or want to bring items in prior to that they may be dropped off at the Front Office or in the Library.  Thank you so much.
